Transfer your data between Android devices

 On the old phone

  1. Tap the Apps icon.

  2. Tap Settings > Accounts > Add account.

  3. Tap Google.

  4. Enter your Google log in and tap NEXT.

  5. Enter your Google password and tap NEXT.

  6. Tap ACCEPT.

  7. Tap the new Google Account.

  8. Select the options to backup:

    • App Data

    • Calendar

    • Contacts

    • Drive

    • Gmail

    • Google Fit Data

    • Google Play Movies & TV

    • Google Keep

    • People details

 On the new phone

When first signing in to your new phone, it is important to use the same Gmail username and password that you were using on your original phone. 

  • Google remembers all of the apps you purchased, your contacts and calendar and your Gmail.

  • Certain versions of Android will even begin downloading your apps for you when you sign in!

 Transfer your photos

You can use Google Photos to backup photos on your old phone and restore them to your new phone. 

  • SD card: If both the old phone and the new Android phone have an SD card, you can move the SD card to the new phone. See your phone's common procedure page for SD Card for steps to save to the SD card.

  • Computer: If you have a computer available, you can copy pictures and videos to the computer, and then to the new device. See your phone's common procedure page for steps to backup & restore using a computer.

  • Cloud: You can backup and restore pictures and videos on a cloud storage account.

    1. Install Google Photos on both devices.

    2. On the old phone, open Google Photos and tap the cloud icon on the top right.

    3. Tap the Back up & sync button.

    4. On the new phone, open Google Photos and tap the cloud icon on the top right.

    5. Tap the Back up & sync button.
